An amateur photographer for 20 years, I began seriously photographing dogs while volunteering with
HOPE Safehouse in 2005.  Volunteers working with HOPE found homes for over 300 dogs and cats
that were separated from their families as a result of devastation following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Candid photos of pets at play; in day care, the park is our focus.

Where do we start?

Arrange a pre-session in person or on the phone to discuss your interests in location(s) and type of photos you desire.  Once we agree on photos, then scheduling a photo session is next.  Allow  one to 3 hours with up to 2 location choices.  Weekdays an hour or more before sunset are preferable and weekend shooting sessions are possible.  We can discuss follow up sessions at special times and locations.

I prefer candid portraits of your pet in natural light where possible.  This can be in your home or yard both at rest and playing.  Location shoots can be in a nearby park, Lake Michigan or your choice.  I have gotten some great photos of dogs playing in Day Care and highly recommend this.

What are the costs?

Cost for pre-session and photo session is $50.

Refer to schedule page for details of print costs.

Can family members be included in photos?  Yes, by all means.

What about other pets?    I prefer to work with one pet at a time.  Ask about rates for groups.

What if Farfo doesn’t want to sit still?   Please have favorite treats and toys on hand to help catch that special expression.  We also work to catch your pet in motion running and playing – it just takes time, patience and a bit of luck.

Do you donate to charitable groups?  Yes.  We donate $15% to rescue groups – you can choose your favorite or allow us to choose.

What is a photo session like?

We meet at appointed date and time at location(s) we agreed on in pre-session.  I take 75-150 images including full body shots, close-ups and where applicable, action shots.  You can choose to be in or out of some of the photos with your pet.  This is a time for patience and enjoying the moment.

If we agree to photograph your dog in Day Care, you don’t have to be there.  Your dog is plenty busy playing with other dogs.

When do I see the results?

2-3 weeks after the photo session, you will receive proofs in the mail.  You have an option of proofs printed on a color laser OR a slide show DVD viewable on a PC.  There will be a best pics selection of photos I liked best but you make the final decision as to which photos you want and what size prints and/or accessories you wish.  Details included with proof package.  If I can get your proof package to you sooner, I will do so.

When can I get prints?

Depending on your order, you can expect your prints in 1-3 weeks.  Special order items such as

mugs, cards, calendars can take longer.  Your order will be mailed or dropped off at your door.

Your images are archived and available for reprint orders.  You can always order framed, matted prints as well as cards, calendars etc. at a later date.  We hope you will consider an ongoing business with us.

If you have a puppy, we urge you to capture the growth of your pup as they grow from gangly goof to young adult and beyond.

How many dog do you have?  I have adopted two mutts I met while volunteering after the hurricanes with HOPE Safehouse.  Rusty is a hound, Turk seems to be a mastiff mix.  I also foster dogs awaiting adoption through local rescue groups. I had a wonderful cat, Sootico, but lost him to illness after Hurricane Katrina.

Please take advantage of training offered in your area to fully enjoy your relationship with your pet. We also encourage you to support legislation to promote spay/neuter laws, prevent abuse and foster adoptions through rescue groups.

We look forward to helping you create memorable images of your pet.  Your satisfaction is important to us.  If you have questions or concerns or just like our work, let us know.  We encourage you to tell others – ask about referral bonuses.
